A Book of Mundanity

I made this book of drawings to reflect the lack of excitement that I was feeling in lockdown. Especially during the summer, I felt like I was wandering around quite aimlessly and achieving very, very little. I called this a book but there is really no story here except the inevitable passage of time.

I finished school very abruptly last March (for obvious reasons!) and spent a good deal of the very long summer in lockdown making art and learning what about art-making interested me and made me happy.

We love the way in which Aparna captures the sweet/ sad summer of 2020. The liveliness of the trees and plants in the background contrast with the melancholic, solitary figures. For more beautiful drawings, follow Aparna on Instagram (@aaaa_mitra).
